Their story

Survival show faces, delayed debut

TEMPEST was Yuehua Entertainment's new boy group, and several members came with a past on screen. LEW and Hyeongseop had been seen on Produce 101 Season 2, and Hanbin, from Vietnam, had competed on I-LAND. The seven planned to debut in February 2022, but all of them tested positive for COVID-19. They debuted on 2 March instead, with It's ME, It's WE and the funky "Bad News".

"Dragon" and a fast pace

That first year they kept moving. By November they had their third EP out, and its title track "Dragon" gave them a first music show win, eight months after the debut. In 2023 the releases came five months apart. LEW described that tempo as ambition, a wish to show everything they could. The same summer they started their first concert tour in Seoul and took it to Japan and Macau.

Racing suits and honest lyrics

TEMPEST liked a clear visual idea. For "Vroom Vroom" the members dressed as racing drivers, and Hwarang borrowed car terms from Ford v Ferrari for the lyrics. Hyuk said they wanted their songs to be honest but comforting. The later records leaned that way. On As I am the members wrote about the worries of their twenties, and Hyuk and LEW co-wrote "CHILL" as a song of comfort. Hwarang left in August 2024, and that autumn the remaining members came sixth on Road to Kingdom: Ace of Ace.

How it ended

As I am, from October 2025, was the last group release. In August 2026 Hanbin debuted as a soloist with "No Fear". On 20 October YH Entertainment, the former Yuehua, announced that the members would stop group activities after long talks. Hyuk enlists for military service on 26 October and LEW leaves the agency when his contract ends. Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Eunchan and Taerae stay with YH for their own work.
