When Wanna One ended in early 2019, Bae Jinyoung went back to C9 Entertainment, and the label formed a new group around him. Of the other four, BX had reached ninth place on Mix Nine, and he and Seunghun had both been through YG Treasure Box. The name stands for "Complete in X": the group is only whole with every member. They debuted on 23 July 2019 with "Movie Star".
Albums told in chapters
"Movie Star" won The Show a week after release, an unusually fast start. From then on the music came in series. The Hello EPs, a story of sin and redemption, ended with "Cinema" in 2021. The OK series that followed turned to love, starting with the studio album OK Prologue: Be OK, which nearly tripled their first-week record. In 2023 OK Episode 2: I'm OK sold more than 130,000 copies in its first week.
Four members
Bae Jinyoung's contract with C9 ended in August 2024 and he left to go solo. The other four kept going. Thunder Fever in January 2025 was their first EP as a quartet, and that September GO Chapter 1: GO Together opened a new series, with BX working on three of its four songs. Between releases they kept touring, as they had since 2022, from Seoul and Tokyo to the United States.
How it ended
On 29 April 2026, C9 told fans that after several months of talks it was unavoidable to stop the group. BX's and Seunghun's contracts ended the next day. Yonghee had applied to enlist and was due to start basic training on 11 May, and Hyunsuk stayed until the end of May while filming a drama. C9 said it would stay in touch with the members in the hope that the CIX name might return with its own music one day.
