Park Jin-young trained him as a solo act, and in 2006 Time put him on its list of the world's most influential people. In 2020 a meme made his 2017 song "Gang" popular all over again.
Jung Ji-hoon grew up dancing. After a boy group called Fan Club came to nothing, Park Jin-young scouted him for JYP and trained him as a solo act. He debuted in 2002 as Rain with the album Bad Guy. Within two years he was acting as well, opposite Song Hye-kyo in the KBS2 drama Full House.
The Rainy Day tour after It's Raining crossed eight countries and reached The Theater at Madison Square Garden. In 2006 Time named him among the most influential people in the world, the first Korean performer on that list. He left JYP the following year to start his own company, then made Rainism, an album he largely produced himself.
His singles are made to be performed, with sharp choreography doing as much work as the hooks. "Gang" had a stranger path. The 2017 title track found a second life years later, after a student's dance cover set off the meme "one Gang a day". Rain played along. He recorded a remix with Jay Park and the H1GHR MUSIC rappers and spent the summer of 2020 as B.Ryong in SSAK3, next to Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Hyori.
These days he runs his own agency, Rain Company, and splits his time between music and drama. He played the villain in the second season of Netflix's Bloodhounds, then returned in May 2026 with "FEEL IT". It is relaxed R&B pop, a break from his usual style, which he described as music for the drive home or a drink outdoors. In June the Weverse Con Festival gave him its tribute stage, where younger idols such as Soobin of TXT joined him.
