Their story

Suga from Daegu

Min Yoon-gi grew up in Daegu and joined BTS as a rapper and producer. For his own music he picked a second name: Agust D, which reads "DT Suga" backwards, with DT standing for Daegu Town. In August 2016 he put out a self-titled mixtape under that name on SoundCloud, free to download. It only reached the streaming services two years later.

D-2 and Daechwita

The second mixtape, D-2, came in May 2020. Its title track "Daechwita" came with a video in which Jin and Jung Kook make cameos, and it became the Agust D video fans kept going back to. That same spring he joined IU on "Eight", and in 2022 he rapped next to PSY on "That That".

Closing the trilogy

BIGHIT presented D-Day in April 2023 as the end of the Agust D trilogy. The title track "Haegeum" pulls the haegeum and gayageum into a hard hip-hop beat, while "People Pt.2" brings IU back for something gentler. A Disney+ documentary followed him through the making of the album, and a week later his first solo tour opened in New York, then moved through Asia to a final run in Seoul.

Where he is now

That autumn he began his service as a social service worker. On weekends he volunteered with children with autism, and he funded a treatment centre for them at Severance Hospital in Seoul. When he finished in June 2025, all seven members of BTS were out. He has released no new Agust D music since. In March 2026 the group returned with ARIRANG, and he is on the road with them for the world tour that followed.
