Their story

First out of the four

Jennie Kim was the first member YG Entertainment revealed before BLACKPINK's debut in 2016, and two years later she was also the first to go solo. "SOLO" came out in November 2018, with a video that kept climbing long after the promotions ended. In 2024 it passed one billion views on YouTube.

Her own label

After BLACKPINK renewed with YG for group work only, she set up her own company, OA, in December 2023. She had already tried acting, as Dyanne in HBO's The Idol, credited as Jennie Ruby Jane. In 2024 a deal with Columbia Records took her solo music abroad, and that October "Mantra" opened the way to her first album.

Ruby and the rest

Ruby arrived in March 2025 with a long guest list, from Dua Lipa to Doechii and Childish Gambino. She helped write and compose the title track, "like JENNIE", and at the Melon Music Awards that December Ruby won Record of the Year. In 2026 her voice turned up somewhere unexpected, on a remix of Tame Impala's "Dracula", which took her into the top five of the Hot 100.

Where she is now

"Less than a Lover", released in July 2026, won on M Countdown two weeks in a row. It closes Fallen Angel, a three-song digital EP released on 28 August. The video for the title track is a dark fairy tale that ends with her and a younger lookalike standing unharmed in a burning building. A physical edition with three extra songs is set for 30 October.
