Two songs called R
Roseanne Park was born in Auckland and joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2012. She was the last of the four to be announced before BLACKPINK debuted. Her solo turn came in March 2021 with R, a single album of just two songs, "On the Ground" and "Gone". Both carried her name in the credits, the first songwriting credits of her career.
Leaving for Atlantic
In 2024 she moved her solo work away from YG. The Black Label took over her management, and in September she signed with Atlantic Records, the American label of Bruno Mars. A month later the two of them released "APT.". It climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, higher than any female K-pop artist had gone before, and the IFPI later named it the best-selling single in the world for 2025.
Guitars and confessions
Her first album, rosie, arrived that December. Beyond the party energy of "APT." it is mostly a confessional pop record, and the video for "toxic till the end" turns a bad relationship into a short film. She also recorded "messy" for the soundtrack of the film F1. The 2026 single "new trick" pushes harder towards pop-rock, with distorted guitar and a playful video by Dave Meyers.
Where she is now
The awards came in a row. "APT." won Song of the Year at the MTV VMAs in September 2025, and in February 2026 she and Bruno Mars opened the Grammys with it, even though the song lost in all three of its categories that night. Four weeks later the Brit Awards in Manchester gave it International Song of the Year. Her latest release, "new trick", was filmed entirely on an iPhone for an Apple campaign.
