Their story
A rapper first
Jang Da-hye started out as a rapper and put out a self-titled EP in 2014. The break came on television. On the second season of Mnet's Unpretty Rapstar in 2015 she made it to the semi-finals, and her name spread far beyond the hip hop crowd. Within a year she was mostly singing.
Singing in the rain
"Don't Come Back" in 2016 was the switch to R&B, and it brought her a much bigger audience. By December, "Star" was sitting on top of every real-time chart in Korea. In 2017 she did it twice more with "Don't Know You" and "You, Clouds, Rain", and the second one, sung with Shin Yong-jae, also topped the Gaon digital chart. Mnet gave her its hip hop and urban prize that winter.
Diary songs
Heize writes and composes most of her own material, and her songs tend to sound like late-night messages: a little sad, half sung and half spoken, often about weather. She works with rappers as easily as with balladeers. Giriboy has been a regular partner since "We Don't Talk Together", the 2019 single that Suga of BTS produced. Drama makers like her too, which is why her name keeps turning up on soundtracks from Hotel Del Luna to Queen of Tears.
Where she is now
She signed with Psy's P NATION in 2020 and released Happen there, with Song Joong-ki in the video. Her tenth EP, Love Virus Pt.1, came out in November 2025, followed in January 2026 by a joint EP with Giriboy. On 30 June 2026 her P NATION contract ended by mutual agreement. Two days later she was on Chuu's single "Rule", and no new agency has been announced.
