VICTON came out of Plan A Entertainment, the company behind Apink. Most of the members had trained there since 2014, and Subin was the last to be added. Mnet's Me & 7 Men introduced the seven in the summer of 2016, and on 9 November they debuted with the EP Voice to New World. The group name is short for that title. Naeun of Apink appeared in the video for "I'm Fine".
Four EPs and a single album passed without a trophy. The change came in 2019, when Seungwoo and Byungchan went on Produce X 101. Byungchan left the show early, and Seungwoo finished third and joined X1, which drew new attention to his own group. "Nostalgic Night", co-written by Chan and Hanse, brought their first music show win that November. When X1 ended, Seungwoo came back, and "Howling" won The Show in March 2020 with all seven on stage.
The members wrote more and more of their own material. Hanse co-wrote the lyrics of every track on Continuous, and all six wrote the words of "Sweet Travel", the song they gave fans for the fifth anniversary. In January 2021 the first studio album, Voice: The Future Is Now, set a new first-week record for the group. Chan left in October 2022, and the six went on with the EP Choice that November.
In April 2023 Hanse, Byungchan and Subin let their contracts with IST Entertainment run out, and Korean media wrote about the end of the group. Seungwoo, Seungsik and Sejun stayed until late 2024, while Seungsik and Sejun did their military service. The six still met to mark the ninth anniversary in November 2025. In September 2026 they announced 10:Now, two anniversary concerts in Seoul on 14 and 15 November, with Taipei and Bangkok to follow.
