UNIS came out of Universe Ticket, an SBS survival show with contestants from across Asia and beyond. Eight finalists from Korea, Japan and the Philippines were left at the end. They signed with F&F Entertainment, a young agency set up by an outdoor clothing company, for two years and six months. Hyeonju, the leader, had already debuted twice. Seowon, the youngest, had only just finished elementary school when "Superwoman" came out in March 2024.
The rookie year brought awards, among them a fan vote prize at MAMA, but no music show trophy. At the showcase for Swicy the members said that was what they wanted next. Eight days later they won on Show Champion, and all eight cried through the encore. In the Philippines the win made headlines of its own: Elisia and Gehlee were called the first Filipina idols to take a Korean music show trophy.
UNIS started loud, with "Superwoman" mixing Afrobeat, moombahton and house into a song about finding your own strength. "Curious" and the sweet-and-spicy "Swicy" stayed playful. For their Japanese debut they went to HoneyWorks, a popular Japanese creator unit, for "MoshiMoshi". Early in 2026 they finally took that sound on the road, with a first tour that ran from Philadelphia to Los Angeles by way of Buenos Aires.
The ending came just as the numbers turned. In September 2026 UNIS remade Bibi's late-1990s song "Sky Land, Star Land", and it became their first track to reach Melon's daily chart. Days later F&F Entertainment confirmed that the group would stop with the contract, on 26 September. The members said goodbye with "Milky Way", a fan song written as a letter to EverAfter, telling them they would never be alone.
