In 2023 the twelve members of LOONA left Blockberry Creative after court rulings on their contracts. Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul and Choerry signed with Modhaus that spring, and Haseul joined them in June. ARTMS started as the name of a Modhaus project rather than a fixed group. Its first release, in July 2023, brought back the LOONA unit Odd Eye Circle with Version Up; Haseul's "Plastic Candy" and Heejin's EP K followed in October.
The five first sang together on "The Carol 3.0" in December 2023, a new entry in a LOONA song series. In spring 2024 four pre-release singles led up to the official debut on 31 May: DALL, a full studio album led by the Eurodance song "Virtual Angel". Its title, short for "Devine All Love & Live", nods to LOONA 1/3's Love & Live, and "Candy Crush" samples Haseul's solo single. Choerry said the dream was to top the Billboard 200.
The name comes from Artemis, the moon goddess, and the music leans on dance floors: Eurodance, synthpop and hyperpop. Club Icarus in June 2025 made the club idea literal, with release parties in Seoul, New York and Los Angeles, and it beat DALL's first-week sales on Hanteo. NME put "Icarus" on its list of the best K-pop songs of 2025. Between releases they toured widely, from Moonshot in 2024 to Grand Club Icarus in South America and Mexico in late 2025.
The second EP, Hyper-Ego, came out on 7 August 2026 with two title tracks: "Born Stunner", released first in July, and the fast hyperpop and J-core song "Blue Blood". The Art of BLUE BLOOD tour opened with two nights in Seoul in September, then went to North America in October, with Europe planned for November. In interviews Kim Lip and Jinsoul say they are thankful for the love LOONA still gets but hope more people now know them as ARTMS.
