Their story

The youngest goes first

Lee Tae-min was 14 when SHINee debuted, the youngest of the group. He was also the first of them to go solo. Ace and its title track "Danger" came out in August 2014, and his first studio album, Press It, followed in 2016.

Move

The album many fans point to is Move, from 2017. Years later they still ask for its title track: at KCON they voted it onto his Dream Stage, and he sang it again at Coachella. The two-part Never Gonna Dance Again followed in 2020, and soon after Advice he left to do his military service, coming back in 2023 with Guilty.

Dance first

Taemin's solo work rests on the stage as much as the studio. Critics point to his sultry vocals, his gender-bending looks and songs that touch on religion and sexuality. Younger idols study his dancing. The 2024 trailer for Eternal is typical: a bride-like Taemin, swapped for a hooded figure in front of cemetery gates.

Where he is now

Two agency moves in two years have not slowed him down. After leaving SM for his solo work in 2024, he parted with Big Planet Made in February 2026 and signed with Galaxy Corporation weeks later. In April he played Coachella, the first Korean male soloist on its line-up, and tried out six new songs there. Several of them landed on Phase 1: Soft Violence at the end of August, and the Liminal tour is set to carry them from Seoul to the US and Latin America.
