Their story

Gifts before the debut

Kim Seok-jin is the oldest of the seven in BTS. His early solo songs were presents rather than releases. "Tonight" went up on SoundCloud, "Abyss" followed on SoundCloud and YouTube, and "Super Tuna" came out on his birthday as a gift to fans. He also sang "Yours", the main theme of the drama Jirisan.

The Astronaut

His official solo debut came in October 2022 with "The Astronaut", a song Coldplay co-wrote and Jin gave his own lyrics. He sang it live for the first time on stage with the band in Buenos Aires. Six weeks later he was the first member of BTS to enlist, and he was also the first to come home.

A band behind him

Back from the army, he started his own YouTube show, Run Jin, and made his first album. Happy is built entirely around a band: "I'll Be There" is rockabilly, and "Running Wild", co-produced by Gary Barlow of Take That, is pop rock with a new wave edge. Wendy of Red Velvet sings on "Heart on the Window". The second album, Echo, followed half a year later, led by "Don't Say You Love Me", with the actress Shin Se-kyung in its video.

Where he is now

In the summer of 2025 Jin took his songs on the road for the first time. The RunSeokjin Ep. Tour opened in Goyang, went through Japan, the US and Europe, and ended with two encore nights in Incheon in November, where j-hope, Jung Kook and V came on as guests. "Don't Say You Love Me" has since become his first solo song with a billion Spotify streams. Now he is back on stage with BTS, singing ARIRANG on the group's world tour.
