Their story
A band formed on YouTube
QWER began as a YouTube project. The 2023 web series Choi-ae-ui Ideul (OSHI NO GIRLS), created by YouTuber Kim Gye-ran, followed four women with online careers as they formed a band. Chodan, the leader and drummer, and bassist Magenta were streamers. Guitarist Hina had millions of followers on TikTok. Singer Siyeon had been the first non-Japanese member of NMB48. The name comes from the Q, W, E and R keys in League of Legends, one letter for each member. When they debuted that October with Harmony from Discord, the fan showcase sold out in 20 seconds.
The year of "T.B.H"
Their first EP, MANITO, came out in spring 2024. Its title track "T.B.H" spent more than two months in Melon's Top 10. YouTube's Culture and Trends Report later named it the most popular song of the year in Korea. That summer QWER released "Anima Power" together with League of Legends. In the autumn "My Name Is Malguem" gave them their first music show wins, on Show Champion and M Countdown.
Guitars, drums and their own lyrics
QWER play their own instruments. Their pop rock is built around guitar riffs, as on the debut song "Discord", whose single carried the slogan "Our harmony comes from dissonance". Lee Dong-hyuk produces their music, but the members write too. All four wrote lyrics for "Dear", the title track of the 2025 EP In a million noises, I'll be your harmony. In 2026 they made their Japanese debut on Warner Music Japan with "SHOW DOWN", the opening theme of the anime Tomb Raider King.
Where they are now
Their first world tour, ROCKATION, covered 16 cities in the Americas and Asia and ended with an encore in Seoul in March 2026. A month later the fourth EP, CEREMONY, sold more copies in its first week than any release of theirs before. In September they put out the special single Shonen Manga & Picaresque and opened their second tour, ROCKATION : ROCKET LAUNCH!!, in Seoul. It runs through Asia until January 2027.
