Their story
MAMAMOO's younger sisters
PURPLE KISS were the first girl group RBW launched after MAMAMOO, and the label of younger sisters stuck. Dosie said at the debut showcase that the comparison only made them work harder. Seven members debuted in March 2021 with Into Violet. Their title track "Ponzona", Spanish for poison, had started life as a trainee evaluation song, and Na Go-eun, Yuki and Swan helped write and produce it. The name came from the colour itself: purple is a blend, and so were they.
Witches, zombies and a US tour
The early releases each came with a persona. "Zombie" followed that autumn, and by the end of the year Rolling Stone India counted "Ponzona" among the best debuts of 2021. In late 2022 Park Ji-eun left the group and the other six carried on. The next year brought the camp of "Sweet Juice", a Japanese debut and the FESTA tour, their first across the United States. American fans, Dosie said later, were very energetic.
Writing their own way
By BXX in 2024 the members had more say than ever. Chaein said the agency gave them freedom with the songs, the videos and even the costumes. The album name was a joke on "Best Friends Forever", with the FF swapped for XX. That autumn "On My Bike" went the other way, all guitar riffs and heavy bass. Then I Miss My... dropped the witch image altogether for the brighter, fairy-like "DoReMi".
How it ended
Three weeks after "DoReMi", RBW announced that group activities would end in November 2025. The agency spoke of respecting each member's own dreams. Korean media read it as a sign of how hard the market is for groups outside the biggest labels. The six kept their promises first: an English album, shows in Japan, a North American run and the A Violet to Remember tour. It closed at Yes24 Wonderwall Hall in Seoul in mid-November, their first meeting with Korean fans since a fan concert in January 2024.
