N.Flying played in Japan before Korea heard them. FNC put out the indie single "Basket" there in October 2013, and the Korean debut followed in May 2015 with the EP Awesome. The name is short for New Flying. That December the fans got their own name, N.Fia, a mix of N.Flying and Utopia. The line-up kept shifting in the early years: Yoo Hwe-seung came in as vocalist in 2017, and bassist Kwon Kwang-jin left at the end of 2018.
"Rooftop" came out on 2 January 2019 and did little at first. The band stopped promoting it in February. Then an anonymous post in an online community sent it up the charts, all the way to No. 1, and N.Flying went back on the music shows to collect their first trophy on The Show in March. Later that year it won Best Rock at the Melon Music Awards. On New Year's Day 2020 Seo Dong-sung, who had been filling in on bass, became a full member.
Lee Seung-hyub sits at the centre of the music. He raps, sings and plays guitar, and he wrote most of Everlasting in 2025 and took part in writing every song on Still a year later. The 2026 title track "Janbul", Korean for embers, is a heavy rock song built on the rhythm section and a guitar riff. Yoo Hwe-seung writes too, with credits on "Moebius" and "Wake Up". Outside the band, Lee played the leader of a fictional band in the 2024 drama Lovely Runner.
Cha Hun, Kim Jae-hyun and Seo Dong-sung served in the military, so Everlasting in May 2025 was the first album with all five back together. Their first world tour came next, opening at Olympic Hall in Seoul. In the summer of 2026 the band played its first nationwide tour, starting with three nights at Jamsil Indoor Stadium. Still, their ninth EP, followed on 8 October.
