Their story
Five cats from THEBLACKLABEL
MEOVV is the first girl group from THEBLACKLABEL, the company producer Teddy set up after leaving YG Entertainment. The label revealed the name in August 2024 and introduced the five members one by one: Ella first, then Gawon, Sooin, Anna and Narin. The name stands for "My Eyes Open VVide" and is pronounced like "meow". Before the debut, THEBLACKLABEL also signed a partnership with Capitol Records. A few weeks later the group debuted with the digital single "MEOW".
A fast first year
Recognition came quickly. The second single, "TOXIC", followed two months after the debut, and that same month MEOVV won Favorite Rising Artist at the MAMA Awards. The next spring the fans got their own name, PAWMPAWM, a blend of the French word for apple and a cat's paw. The pre-release "HANDS UP" then gave the group its first music show win, on M Countdown in May 2025. The first EP, MY EYES OPEN VVIDE, came out that same month with "DROP TOP".
The members take the pen
The group took five cats as its theme, and a cat is its visual signature. Teddy produces the music, but the members write more with every release. Gawon and Narin co-wrote "TOXIC" and "BURNING UP", and Ella co-wrote the 2026 title track "DDI RO RI". That song, from the second EP BITE NOW, samples Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. For the same EP Teddy had the members direct each other's recordings.
Where they are now
MEOVV is active with all five members. BITE NOW came out in June 2026, after eight months away. That summer the group received the Breakout International Performance award at the TME Live International Music Awards in Hong Kong. In October they released the single album GO HARD, with the B-side "Indestructible". The title track pairs a lyrical melody with a heavy beat and a chorus that repeats its title. Both songs are about forging your own path and the determination to overcome challenges.
