Their story
Last to go solo
Kim Ji-soo is the oldest member of BLACKPINK, and she was the last of the four to release solo music. Before that she went into acting, with her first lead role in the JTBC drama Snowdrop, which won her a prize at the Seoul International Drama Awards. Her solo debut finally came on 31 March 2023 with the single album ME, released through YG Entertainment like all of her group work until then.
A million in a week
The title track, "FLOWER", took nine music show trophies, and ME sold more in its first week than any album by a female K-pop soloist before it, passing a million copies. Soon after BLACKPINK renewed with YG for group work only, she founded her own label, BLISSOO, in early 2024.
Between sets
Her music comes in short bursts between filming. AMORTAGE, a four-song EP released on Valentine's Day 2025, was led by "earthquake", whose video co-stars actor Cha Seung-won. That same year she starred in the series Newtopia and appeared in the film Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy with Lee Min-ho. In October she sang "Eyes Closed" with Zayn, her first solo song on the Hot 100.
Where she is now
She is now working towards her first full studio album, more than three years after her solo debut. Instead of a single big release, BLISSOO is putting it out one song at a time. The first, "CLICK", came on 4 September 2026: a lean dance-pop track over synths and bass. Joseph Kahn, who has made videos for Taylor Swift and Eminem, directed it in a deserted fairground full of plush toys.
