Their story

From the dance studio

Park Ji-min learned popping and locking as a schoolboy in Busan and went on to study modern dance at an arts high school there. After he joined BTS, his solo moments came on the group's albums: "Lie", "Serendipity" and later "Filter". One early song he simply gave away. "Promise" went up on SoundCloud at the end of 2018 and only reached streaming services in 2023.

A first album at number one

His official debut arrived in March 2023. FACE opened with the harsh, orchestral "Set Me Free Pt.2" and then turned to "Like Crazy", a cool synth-pop song named after a film. That song went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, something no Korean soloist had done before. In December of that year he enlisted together with Jung Kook.

Dancer's pop

Critics heard FACE as a record about the pandemic years and about dropping a cheerful mask, with loneliness and fame as recurring subjects. MUSE, made in Los Angeles and released while he was serving, is lighter. Its title track "Who" mixes hip-hop and R&B, and its video follows him through night streets until he breaks into a dance with a troupe. The song stayed on the Hot 100 for 33 weeks.

Where he is now

Jimin left the army in June 2025 and returned to group life. BTS released ARIRANG in March 2026 and took it on a world tour that reached SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in September and South America in October. No new solo album has been announced. For now he is one of seven again, singing the songs of ARIRANG in stadiums.
