No. In 2016 they became the first K-pop girl group to reach ten years without a line-up change.
Brown Eyed Girls were put together under Nega Network, and leader JeA was one of the first members recruited. Some early members left, so JeA brought in Narsha. Gain, the youngest, was found on an audition show where she had been eliminated. With Miryo as the group's rapper, the four debuted on 2 March 2006 with the album Your Story. They started with a ballad, "Come Closer", and put their vocals first.
The first hit came two years later. "L.O.V.E" (2008) gave the group its big break, and "How Come" followed the same year. In July 2009 the album Sound-G brought "Abracadabra", the song that made them much more widely known. Its dance became known in Korea as the "arrogant dance". In August 2010 Sound-G was released in Japan, and the group taught the dance to about 1,000 fans in Tokyo.
After the debut ballad, the label pushed the group toward bright medium-tempo dance songs, which Miryo has said she did not always want to sing. Over time the members settled on vocal skill and performance as what set them apart. Later albums became more conceptual. "Sixth Sense" (2011) was a bold single about the desire for freedom, and "Kill Bill" on Black Box (2013) took its title and revenge theme from the film. Basic (2015), produced by Cho Young-cheol, was built around quantum physics. Its title track "Brave New World" reached No. 1 on five Korean music charts the morning after release.
In March 2016 Brown Eyed Girls became the first K-pop girl group to reach ten years without a line-up change. When their contracts with Nega Network ended, the members moved together to APOP, part of Mystic Entertainment. Their last group album was RE_vive in October 2019, a remake album of ten songs from the 1980s to the 2000s. All four reunited for the 20th anniversary on 2 March 2026 and met again for a birthday party in September. As of October 2026 no new group release has been announced.
