Brave Girls

브레이브걸스

The girl group that a four-year-old song saved: in February 2021, a day after the members discussed disbanding, a fan video sent "Rollin'" to the top of every Korean chart. Since 2023 they are called BB GIRLS.

Their story

Two starts

Brave Girls began as a project of producer Brave Brothers and his company Brave Entertainment. Five members, led by Eunyoung, debuted on 7 April 2011 with "Do You Know". The success was modest, and after 2013 the group went quiet for more than two years. When it came back in 2016, the original members had gone. A new line-up, among them Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna, released High Heels and, in March 2017, "Rollin'".

The president of the military

Nobody outside one audience paid much attention. Brave Girls played the armed forces show K-Force Special Show more than 72 times, and soldiers adored them. By February 2021 Yujeong and Yuna had already moved out of the dorm, and the members talked about calling it quits. On 24 February the channel VIDITOR posted a compilation of their "Rollin'" stages with viewers' comments. Within weeks the four-year-old song topped Melon, Genie, Bugs and FLO, and on 14 March it won Inkigayo, the first music show win of their career.

Summer songs

The releases that followed stayed with bright summer pop. "Chi Mat Ba Ram" led Summer Queen in June 2021, "After We Ride" came in August, and Thank You followed in 2022. Korean press still calls them the original summer queens. To these ears that steady, unflashy style is why "Rollin'" still worked four years after release.

Where they are now

When the Brave Entertainment contracts ended in February 2023, the four signed with Warner Music Korea and carried on as BB GIRLS. Yujeong left in April 2024 when that deal ran out, and in December the trio of Minyoung, Eunji and Yuna joined GLG. Since then they have released Love 2, a remake of "Hee-mang-sa-hang" and, on 16 July 2026, the summer single "Body Wave", co-produced by Minyoung.
