Their story

Two names, one person

Cho Seung-youn had already released music as Luizy and put out singles as WOODZ before his first EP under that name, Equal, in June 2020. He picked the title because fans kept mixing up his two names, and to him both are simply him. The name WOODZ comes from a tree: heavy roots, light branches.

Drowning

Few K-pop hits have taken a longer road. "Drowning" was a B-side on OO-LI in April 2023, released less than a year before he enlisted. In October 2024 he sang it in uniform on Immortal Songs, and the song slowly began to climb from far down the Melon chart. By May 2025 it was No. 1 on the Circle digital chart, and it ended the year as the top song on Melon, Genie and Circle.

Guitars first

He writes, composes and produces his own songs, and lately they lean on guitars. "I'll Never Love Again", his first single after the army, puts folk textures and a choir on top of alt rock. Archive. 1, his first full album, runs to 17 tracks; in the video for "Human Extinction" the actor Park Hee-soon appears as a doctor, and "Come into my world!" is built on a guitar riff and heavy drums.

Where he is now

Since Archive. 1 came out in March 2026, WOODZ has spent most of the year on tour. The tour started at Inspire Arena in Incheon and has played across Asia, Europe, Oceania and the Americas. In October he released "Come into my world!", and the tour returns to Seoul for an encore at KSPO Dome.
