Two members of Lovelyz were on record before the group was. Jin and Jiae both released solo singles in 2013, a year before Woollim Entertainment introduced its eight-member girl group. A pre-release, "Good Night Like Yesterday", came out first. The debut showcase followed in November 2014, and the first album, Girls' Invasion, arrived that month with the lead single "Candy Jelly Love". Baby Soul led the group, and Yein was the youngest.
The song that made Lovelyz widely known was "Ah-Choo". It came from their first EP, Lovelyz8, in 2015. The singer-songwriter Yoon Sang composed it, and it became their signature hit. "Destiny" followed the next spring and became a fan favourite. The first music show trophy still took until May 2017, when "Now, We" won on The Show. Two years later they reached the final of Mnet's Queendom and closed it with "Moonlight".
Lovelyz are known for sweet, wistful pop. That line runs through their title tracks, from "Candy Jelly Love" and "Ah-Choo" to "Twinkle", "That Day" and "Obliviate". The last of those led Unforgettable in 2020, their final EP of the Woollim years. On stage they showed another side. Their winter concerts, which began with Lovelyz in Winterland, became known for full live band sessions.
The members' contracts with Woollim ended in November 2021. Seven left the agency, Baby Soul stayed, and each went on with solo music or acting. Three years later all eight came back for the group's 10th anniversary, with the single "November" and two sold-out concerts in Seoul, plus dates in Macau and Taiwan. In December 2025 they sang "Ah-Choo" and "Twinkle" together at the KBS Song Festival. As of October 2026 no new group release has been announced.
