Their story
Picked on camera
KATSEYE started as an experiment by HYBE and Geffen Records: could the K-pop training system build a girl group for the American market? The answer was filmed. The Debut: Dream Academy followed the candidates through 2023 and ended with a live finale in Los Angeles, where Sophia was named first and Manon last. The six winners came from the United States, the Philippines, Switzerland and South Korea, and they picked the group name themselves. In June 2024 they debuted with a single called, plainly, "Debut".
From a dance challenge to the Grammys
"Touch" was the song that travelled. Its choreography turned into a challenge that spread across social media through the summer of 2024. The second EP, Beautiful Chaos, made it serious. "Gnarly" gave them a first Hot 100 entry, "Gabriela" climbed higher, and the EP entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4. In November 2025 the Recording Academy put them on the Best New Artist shortlist, next to a second nomination for "Gabriela".
Built for American pop radio
The method is Korean, with long training, sharp group choreography and dance versions of the videos, but the songs are written for the American charts. They sing in English and work with US writers. "Gabriela" leans on Latin pop. "Animal" was a flirty pre-release about the gap between public and private faces. On Wild they even recorded "Bel Air", a song Charli XCX wrote years earlier and never used. Lara has started writing as well: she co-wrote "Unloveu".
Where they are now
2026 brought their biggest results and their hardest months. Manon stepped back in February and has not returned, and Sophia went on hiatus in August. Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae kept promoting as four. Wild still became their first No. 1 album in the US, and The Wildworld Tour took them across North America and Europe that autumn. In October "Unloveu" came out as a single of its own.
