KARD

카드

Two men, two women and a moombahton sound built from a card game concept, bigger in Latin America than at home for years. In July 2026 DSP Media announced one last album and tour.

Their story

A deck of four

DSP Media announced a new co-ed group in December 2016 and built it around a card game. BM was the King, J.Seph the Ace, Somin the Black JokeR and Jiwoo the Color JokeR. Each of three project singles brought in a hidden card, starting with singer Hur Young-ji on "Oh NaNa". Somin had already been through Puretty and April. The official debut, the EP Hola Hola, came on 19 July 2017.

Big abroad first

The tropical, dancehall-heavy sound travelled fast. The Wild Kard tour went through the Americas and Europe in the debut year, and Latin America in particular kept bringing them back. Korea was slower to notice, which Jiwoo later called the group's big unsolved assignment. A turning point came with "Bomb Bomb" in 2019: after it, Somin says, the members wrote their own music and shaped their own concepts. BM wrote and composed "Gunshot" a year later.

Moombahton and pair dances

Moombahton stayed the base, from "Hola Hola" to the 2026 title track "Back To Life". The members say the co-ed line-up was an advantage: they could sing about love more directly and build choreography around pairs. J.Seph served in the military from late 2020; the four were back together for the EP Re: in 2022 and released an EP almost every year after that.

Where they are now

On 6 July 2026 DSP Media announced that KARD would end its group activities, with the members' contracts running out at the end of the year. Two days later "Don't Recall" passed 100 million YouTube views. Their first and only studio album, Where To Now? (Part.2): NOWHERE, came out on 28 July, and the NOW HERE tour opened in Seoul on 8 August with dates planned into early 2027. The members avoid the word disbandment and say they would like to make another KARD album one day.

    Quick answers

    When did KARD debut?

Officially on 19 July 2017, with the EP Hola Hola. Before that they released three project singles, starting with "Oh NaNa" on 13 December 2016.

Who are the members of KARD?

J.Seph, BM, Somin and Jiwoo. The line-up has stayed the same since the start.

What is the KARD fandom called?

Hidden KARD. The members are the King, the Ace, the Black JokeR and the Color JokeR, and BM explained that the missing "D" stands for Hidden, the fans who complete the name.

    Are KARD disbanding?

DSP Media said on 6 July 2026 that the group will end its activities after the album Where To Now? (Part.2): NOWHERE and a world tour. The members call it the end of their DSP contract rather than a breakup, and say they hope to make a KARD album again, without concrete plans.

Why is KARD so popular in Latin America?

Their moombahton and dancehall sound found fans there early, and they toured the region heavily, while recognition in Korea came slowly. Jiwoo has called domestic success the group's big unsolved assignment.
