Fly to the Sky

플라이 투 더 스카이

SM Entertainment's R&B duo of 1999, behind "Sea of Love" and "Missing You". In September 2026 Brian and Hwanhee announced their first comeback as a pair in about eight years.

Their story

Two singers at SM

SM Entertainment put Brian Joo and Hwanhee together in late 1998. Hwanhee had come up through the company's trainee system, and the pair debuted in 1999 with "Day by Day". There was no rapper and no dance line: just two voices and R&B love songs. The first album sold more than 250,000 copies, a solid start for a duo.

"Sea of Love" and "Missing You"

The third album, Sea of Love, in 2002, and "Missing You" a year later made them one of Korea's best-known R&B acts. "Missing You" won a main prize at the SBS Gayo Daejeon. After Gravity, their last SM album, they moved on to another label, and No Limitations in 2007 finally gave them a No. 1 album.

Duets and solo work

Every hit is a duet between the two. Both also built solo careers: Brian released The Brian in 2006, and Hwanhee started with the mini album H Soul in 2009. That same year, after Decennium, they decided not to renew their contract. The break lasted five years. When they returned in May 2014, "You You You" went to the top of nine real-time charts within an hour of release.

Where they are now

Their tenth album, Fly High, marked the 20th anniversary in 2019. After that the two mostly worked apart, and both have denied rumours of a feud. In January 2026 Brian joined Hwanhee on stage at the Seoul finale of his solo tour, and they sang their old hits together. In September Hwanhee told KBS2 viewers that a comeback was coming, and Brian posted photos from a recording studio. No title or date has been announced.
