Their story
How it started
B1A4 debuted under WM Entertainment with five members: CNU, Jinyoung, Sandeul, Baro and Gongchan. The debut EP Let's Fly, led by "O.K", came out on 21 April 2011, and the group counts 23 April as its debut day. The name comes from blood types: Baro had type B, the other four type A. It is also read as "Be The One, All For One". The members came from different parts of Korea and spoke different dialects, which earned them the nickname "countryside-dols".
The breakthrough
A second EP, It B1A4 with "Beautiful Target", followed in September 2011, and the first studio album Ignition in 2012. The first music show win came two years in, with "What's Happening?" on Show! Music Core on 18 May 2013. The next lead single, "Lonely" from the 2014 album Who Am I, went further and collected five wins. That year the Road Trip tour took them to Manila for their first show there. In Japan they released five studio albums between 2012 and 2018.
Their sound and style
Over time B1A4 became a group that makes its own songs. Jinyoung and Baro left in 2018 when their contracts ended, and the remaining three released Origine in 2020, their first album as a trio. Its title track, "Like a Movie", was written by CNU. The 2024 EP Connect followed with "Rewind". For the 2026 EP SET, CNU produced the record and wrote and composed every song. The title refers to the idea that the group is only complete when all three are together.
Where they are now
In December 2025 CNU, Sandeul and Gongchan left WM after 14 years and founded B1A4 Company, with all three as directors. SET, led by "Rock Paper Scissors", came out on 21 April 2026, the same date as Let's Fly, for the 15th anniversary. From 31 July to 2 August they played three nights of the D-DAY concert at KBS Arena in Seoul, with a different setlist each night and a live band. The single "D-DAY" was released two hours before the first show. The concert moved on to Osaka and Tokyo in September.
